Like many affordable models from the brand, like the populair Soundcore Life A1, the Life P2 mini and Life P2i, the Soundcore A20i has a heavyweight bass. The A20i, like some of Soundcore’s other latest budget releases, does not sound that good out of the box – it’s very bassy, noticeably muffled, and the balanced is skewed towards the bottom with recessed mid-highs and highs. Both of them focused the audio on the speech, removing any background or ambient noise and giving it a studio recorded quality. I initially thought there was weird lag issues with the touch controls, because it sounded like songs would lose a second or two when I tracked or changed the volume, but I eventually realized the earbuds simply mute the media to play the function’s “beep” when triggered. The fit feel is on the shallow side, with pressure exerted on the concha and tragus rather than the outer ear canal.

Soundcore A20i review: The JBL speaker of cheap earbdus!

They sound prominent, but have a smooth, warm undertone, preventing the occasional thinness voices sometimes have in this sound signature. It won't cost you extra, yet it will financially support me a bit in my ongoing quest for great affordable audio.All the better, as these earbuds deliver up to 9 hours of playtime on a single charge, after which the compact charging case can recharge them three times fully. The good news is you can choose one of many alternative EQ pre-sets in the app, but the bad news is that – for whatever reason that I don’t understand at all – you can’t do a custom EQ profile with the A20i earbuds.
