It features an anti-glare display that does a brilliant job of keeping everything visible in all manner of lighting conditions (although given the Kamvas 22 Plus' size, you're unlikely to want to take it out and about with you), and the screen's ever so slightly curved, which helps reduce parallax (the distance between the stylus tip and the line that appears on the screen). which is incredibly cheap. Obviously, you're not going to get a lot of sophisticated features for that price, but we loved how light and portable the device is, weighing little over 100g, and found it easy to use. You shall guarantee that the performance of this agreement will neither infringe the rights and interests of any third party, including without limitation to the right of reputation and the portrait right, nor go against any agreement signed between you and a third party to invoke any claim by such third party; you shall guarantee that the performance of this Agreement by HUION will not infringe the legal rights and interests of any third party. In case of any dispute arising from your breach of this Agreement, you shall take the responsibility of settling it, including stepping forward to handle the complaints forwarded by HUION. The other side of the coin, of course, is that pen displays come at a higher cost than graphics tablets, which we'll get to shortly. As such, you tend to see fewer pen displays oriented towards beginners, as the initial cost outlay is high enough to deter new users.

Not being wireless means you are always tethered to your screen. It’s not a huge deal, but the wire does add to clutter on the desk. In a time where everything is becoming smarter it is not a huge ask for the ability to be wire-free. The pen is, so why not the tablet? Huion HS610 review: should you buy it? Quite a lot to play with and configure. I’m sure some users will make use of all the buttons, but personally I’d only really need 12, if that, at most. Many pen displays also take advantage of advances in screen technology to deliver high resolutions and superb line sensitivity. All this tech makes them especially good for specialist drawing applications, like animation or technical drawing. Of course, you’ll need a drawing app. I tested with Autodesk Sketchbook. Just be aware that you’ll only be able to draw on the left third of the drawing tablet which felt cramped to me. I also noticed that the pressure sensitivity does not work on Android. At least it didn’t in the Autodesk Sketchbook app. What I like

Stepping down another size level, we come to the Huion Kamvas Pro 13, which is small but very well formed, both in terms of features and functionality. This more compact pen display features a high-quality screen with a textured surface for a more natural-feeling drawing experience, as well as 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity plus a set of customisable function buttons that enable you to execute all your favourite shortcuts instantly. The HS610 is a 13.75 x 8.25 inch sized graphics tablet that is thin and light enough that it doesn’t take up too much space or bulk in your gear bag. In the event any user breaks this Agreement, HUION shall have the right to require such user to compensate the loss (including but not limited to fine, indemnification, compensation, penalty, attorney fee, notarization fee and legal cost, etc.) suffered by HUION thereby. This makes for a quite different drawing experience to that of using a pen display; the setup's less self-contained, and you'll probably need to take a bit of time to get used to the sensation of drawing in one place and seeing the results in another.The Kamvas 16 is a more recent addition to the Huion range, and it's up against similarly-sized tablets such as the Wacom Cintiq 16 or XP-Pen Artist Pro 16. How does it fare? It acquits itself rather well. The pen is highly responsive, with no lag and 8.192 levels of pressure sensitivity. The screen, meanwhile, is a Full HD type, with 100% sRGB gamut coverage and a 178°viewing angle. Sure, it's not 4K, or even QHD. Sure, there's no touchscreen, and setting it up tends to incur a mess of cables and wires. The Huion Kamvas 22 Plus is still a premium drawing tablet at a bargain price, and that should merit serious consideration from more or less anyone with an interest in digital art. Testing with Android is a little different. First of all, you don’t have to install a special driver. You just plug the HS610 into your phone or tablet with the included cable and OTG adapter. It works like connecting a mouse to your Android device, it shows a cursor on the screen that you can move around. With my MacBook, I had to install the driver software which gives you the ability to test and customize various features like the pressure sensitivity and function buttons. Don't quite need the full 24 inches? The Huion Kamvas 22 Plus has all the features you need, with a slightly more compact 21.5-inch Full HD display that delivers 140% sRGB coverage. Whether you're a pro or a hobbyist, this Huion drawing tablet really delivers the goods.

To get started using the Huion HS610, you have to first charge the drawing tablet using the included micro USB cable. Doing so will cause a tiny status LED to turn on. This LED is so small that it’s hard to see. Once the tablet is charged, the next step is to install the driver on your Windows or Mac OS device. If you plan to use it with your Android device, you just need to make sure that it’s running Android OS 6.0 or newer and you use the OTG adapter for micro USB or USB-C. With the largest work area of the HS series - 10 x 6.25-inchs – the Huion HS610's workspace can be best described as a medium work area. It’s certainly big enough for general art making and doesn’t restrict pen movement, so for newcomers or experienced artists there's enough room here. The range also includes a few other options – there's the basic Kamvas 24, which is a similar proposition without the etched glass surface. Then there's also the Kamvas 24 Plus, a pricier version with an expanded contrast ratio and customisable buttons that can be assigned to your preferred functions. Plus, there's a 4K version of the Kamvas Pro 24, for those who need the extra pixels. The Huion H420X comes with a Huion's PW100 pen, the same battery-free stylus that comes with most of the brand's Inspiroy and HS tablets and which we found worked well on this budget tablet. The small size means it's not ideal for working on larger monitors, but it's a good option for smaller screens to replace a mouse. It's easy to install and works well with the Huion Sketch app for Android and other programs such as Krita, MediBang, PS and Affinity.

Apart from the 12 press buttons there is a touch wheel with another press button in the centre. The central press button allows you to configure the touch wheel for a variety of uses, including zoom, scroll and adjust. This is a nice touch and means getting to grips with the general flow of the tablet, once you’ve customised the buttons to shortcuts of your choosing, is very intuitive. If you're looking for an affordable drawing tablet that makes workflow all the smoother, the Huion HS610 is a good choice. The real star of the show is the included Huion PW517 pen. There's no need for batteries or charging cables, as it draws its power directly from the tablet via electromagnetic resonance. This pen delivers excellent drawing performance and control. It’s smooth and satisfying to use, working up to 10mm from the screen surface, with virtually no parallax. The downside is the Kamvas Studio 22 uses ageing technology, notably the Intel Core i5 and Intel HD Graphics 630, a fairly old Intel duo that while capable for what you'll need may run into problems down the line. By comparison, the Wacom Mobile Studio Pro makes use of an Intel Core i7 and Apple's iPad Pro 12.9 5th gen features the older but excellent M1 processor – both also come with 4K UHD displays. Materials provided by HUION shall be used for exchanges among users only, but not of merchandising and profit-making nature. In case of any commercial infringement or dispute arising out of the use of materials provided by HUION platform by any third party in his/her works, all responsibilities shall be borne by such third party itself.

We've looked at some pretty hefty Huion drawing tablets so far, but if you're short on space or simply prefer something a little more compact, there are some excellent options available, such as the Huion Kamvas 16. As you might have guessed it has a 16-inch screen, and it weighs 1.26kg; about the same as a fairly large laptop. If you’ve never used a drawing tablet before, it does take some time to get used to looking at your computer screen while you’re drawing on the tablet instead of the “paper” under the pen tip. That said, it doesn’t take that long to get used to it. The touch-wheel function, quality stylus, and good drawing experience should satisfy even those with more experience. This definitely seems like a unit that will serve you well for a long while, despite its price. The Huion HS610 does exactly what it says “on the tin,” no more, no less. A serviceable enough tablet. At the other end of the scale, professional pen displays are the standard tools of many creative industries and tend to be where the most exciting developments are happening. Huion pen displays are much more affordable than their counterparts from the likes of Wacom, and are well worth looking into if you want a professional-level tool for a budget price. Graphics tablets
Final thoughts
The surface itself has a bit more tooth and texture to it than the Inspiroy H1060P I recently tried out, which as already mentioned is the same size and in a similar price range (depending on where you live – US or UK). This is good for a more pen-on-paper feel, though will wear down your nibs a little faster (don’t forget it comes with a bunch of spare nibs, so will last a fair while). Any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Agreement shall be submitted to be settled by the people’s court in the place where HUION is located, as per the laws of P. R. China.
