About this deal

Emma and Leo have a great life. Emma is in remission from blood cancer, she and Leo have a beautiful daughter, and fulfilling jobs - until one day when obituary writer, Leo, uncovers something that unravels everything he thinks he knows about his wife. Emma has always feared that if Leo found out the truth, he would never forgive her, and it looks as if she was right. The secret(s) are deep and the trust is something Leo already struggles with. I never really felt connected to any of the characters, and the author tried so hard to build the mystery aspect that instead of being intrigued, I was just annoyed. In Emma and Leo, we initially see a devoted couple with a deep and seemingly genuine connection. To what extent do you believe it is possible for a happy relationship to be founded on colossal untruths? Is it possible to love someone and not really know who they are?

The Love of My Life Summary and Study Guide | SuperSummary The Love of My Life Summary and Study Guide | SuperSummary

I’m very glad I kept reading. Even though Walsh solves half the mystery with an info dump right around the structural halfway mark, Emma’s past turned out to be nothing like I’d imagined it, and all of the author’s earlier clues were fake-outs. Emma reveals herself to be an extremely likeable heroine who suffered horrible losses and betrayals as a college student, but pulled herself out of the mess admirably and made a wonderful life for herself. Pe când Emma încearcă să-și ascundă trecutul, el iese la iveală în cele din urmă. Dacă viața lor rămâne la fel după ce află Leo adevărul nu rămâne decât să descoperiți singuri.

In highly readable narrative, Rosie Walsh delivers well-developed, lovable characters, lots of dynamics, and interesting plot points (I now want to travel the world looking for rare crabs). 🦀

The Love of My Life begins by asking how well a person really knows their spouse. It ends by asking what it takes to forgive. In between is a gripping mystery that readers won’t be able to put down. I couldn't put down this book, I was mesmerised. This reminded me of The Last Thing He Told Me and I fell in love with both of them. Emma and Leo have chemistry between them they could never deny. They felt it from the first time they met. When their beautiful daughter Ruby is born, they are over-the-moon in love with her and each other. The multiple points of view Walsh employed served the story perfectly; I raced through this book to learn the truth alongside Leo. The author does a great job of getting the reader invested in Emma's and Leo's story: their relationship, their history together, Emma's complexities, Leo's unwavering support for Emma, and how they love each other so deeply. I cared about these two characters and was pulling for both of them! And she might just have got away with it, if it weren't for her husband's job. Leo is an obituary writer; Emma a well-known marine biologist. When she suffers a serious illness, Leo copes by doing what he knows best – researching and writing about his wife's life. But as he starts to unravel the truth, he discovers the woman he loves doesn't really exist. Even her name isn't real. Because Leo's wife has had a brush with death (from cancer… the publisher blurb just mentions an “illness”), he looks into her past. He's an obituary writer and just can’t help himself from starting hers just in case. What he learns is that she’s not who he thought she was, and she’s got a whopper of a secret (or two! or three!) in her closet.

Walsh has a good ear for dialogue, and the mystery behind Eddie’s disappearance is a particularly satisfying one.” A few years later after therapy and getting her life together she changes her name to Emma to try and put a lid on her past. It was research that turned into spying. Plus, Emma's lies early in the story really left him with no other option if he wanted to figure out the truth. Making him a obit writer was a clever way to make that happen. - marks Do you agree that Leo's investigation is "spying," as he puts it? Do you believe he's justified in his actions? What would your first thoughts have been if you'd been in his shoes? stars--There's nothing wrong with this book, but I guess I was expecting more of an emotional punch after Ghosted. I listened to it as an audiobook and the dual narrators did a fantastic job keeping the story moving forward.Book Genre: Adult, Adult Fiction, Contemporary, Fiction, Mystery, Mystery Thriller, Romance, Suspense, Thriller A book begging to be read on the beach, with the sun warming the sand and salt in the air: pure escapism. The Love of My Life is my favorite kind of thriller—gripping, heartbreaking and impossible to put down.” Emma has secrets she has never shared with her husband, the man she deeply loves. She never imagined her past life would surface in such an ugly, hurtful way. It is the last thing she would have wanted to happen, for Leo's sake. For her sake, too. Emma's postpartum psychosis places her in an extremely vulnerable position, which allows Janice to make a decision that changes the course of several lives. What do you think pushed Janice to make such a choice? Discuss.
