About this deal

The repetitive phrases that Sanjay, our MC's husband, said during the book was killing me by the end. The "Are you okay" thing... Was this supposed to be there to make it seem that he was in a fugue state or was it just his catch phrase? Because I felt that I was reading the same conversation between Essie and Sanjay several times. An awful curse born of both love and selfishness has taken fathers from their daughters for generations in Essie's family. I had hoped there would be some spookiness in Essie's new house but other than some whispering and an object occasionally being displaced nothing much happened. I thought that when the curse began to take hold of the family, this is when the Horror/Creepy part of the story would reveal itself. Sadly, there wasn't any suspense. The ending seemed too easily wrapped up since so many generations had suffered this curse. It just felt rushed to me. Essie is hugely independent and stubborn when it comes to how she has planned out her days. She will become a lawyer and be successful in her career. She had to wait while her husband, Sanjay, took steps toward an architecture degree first. So when she learns of her unplanned pregnancy while finally able to step her feet into a classroom, it does not come lighthearted. She’s far behind and feels that she deserves to focus on herself. Her entire life will change and she isn’t sure if she wants that. But in the end, she loves the life she is creating. When she must endure a terrible pregnancy full of pain and isolation, she becomes cognizant of forces that can irrevocably transform her life into one without love. Without Sanjay.

To me, Alex is an unlikeable character (Not that this is a bad thing! Unlikeable characters can add quite a bit of interest and reader conflict). I found her to be a bit immature and selfish. She is jealous and hostile to her boyfriend’s children and she is overly critical of her co-workers and boss. I can’t make a final judgement of her character, because I did not finish the novel, but I do hope that there is substantial character development and she redeems herself at the end. Today, this morning, she'd finally stopped feeling like a person. She was nothing now, a no one, an entity that had no more substance or form than the voices in her head. They were silent now, but for how long?" There are other aspects to this novel...Alex's own childhood and adoption, Alex's issues at work, her issues with Jason, her boyfriend...her feelings of never belonging and also the mystery of her own mother...she has no clue where she is or even if she is still living.

If you google its name you’ll understand. They concocted that little story for the exact same reason they decided to become a tranny, a desperate plea for attention, and now they’re getting it. From internationally bestselling British author Susan Lewis comes an unflinching, thoroughly suspenseful novel—perfect for readers of Jodi Picoult—about the darkest secrets a family can hide. No Child Of Mine is told on two timelines. In the current day, we have Essie and her husband Sanjay, and several generations earlier we have Ana and Isabelle, two women who were profoundly in love in the days when it was just impossible for women to be together.

When I started the book, I thought it would be nothing more than a good horror book with few ghosts or demons, a few scary moments, and a sinister setting. This book is so much more than that and at the same time nothing like it.I watched this movie long ago in France and rewatched it very recently and it moved me to tears and i wanted to cry and help Kerry to leave this hell.Poor Kerry is supposed to be 12 or 13 and is constantly abused by her mother, dad and stepdad Graham in the movie..That's awful..This movie is very emotional and has good points like the fight of Kerry to survive and her determination when she deserts home and calls the hotline for abused children.

As a retired child welfare social worker, I don't often read social worker stories, but I'm always interested in child protection practice in other counties, here the UK. It has a potentially interesting plot line, but it's way too long and repetitive. Ms. Lewis could have used a good editor. Essie is in a very loving marriage with her husband, Sanjay, whom she adores, but in spite of that, Essie is less than stoked about the news. Alex Wade is a social worker and dedicated to her job. When she first sees little Ottilie Wade, she immediately register both concern for the child and a strange attraction. This is the best quality of No Child of Mine that we could rustle up and the quality is marginally better than other copies available on the net. But the shitty quality in a way suits the shitty mood of the movie. The most disturbing part of this film for me would have to be the care home sequence as you think the main character is in a stable environment now with people around her to care for her. But then one of care workers comes into her room and starts making comments about her mirror which they talk happily shot for a while. Then he pounces on her bed and proceeds to say the same similar threats to her again. Which just made me realise how helpless she must have felt having gone through all she has done only to be met with the same fate again. There are several scenes of assault in this film which are equally as disturbing as each other with the main actress being great throughout the film and these sequences help amplify my belief of her acting abilities with the sheer terror she conveys in these scenes. I think the utter feeling of hopelessness also helps makes this film more disturbing with it feeling constant claustrophobic like there is no end to this characters disgusting lifestyle which she is forced into everyday. The only thing that prevents this film from being a 10 on the disturbing scale are some of the assaulters acting abilities which make them a bit laughable as they sound like they’re trying to be as evil as possible and whilst it’s achieved it comes across a bit cheesy and a bit BBC drama like.A British schoolgirl struggles to come to terms with the horrific and disgusting sexual abuse inflicted upon her by the adults in her life. When she resorts to self-harm to escape her troubles, a caring teacher tries to get her some help."

In casting the film, Kosminsky was determined that the child actor playing Kerry should be emotionally mature and have the benefit of a strong supportive family. He chose Brooke Kinsella, whose mother was on set throughout the filming. Starring: Brooke Kinsella (Kerry), Billy Geraghty (Dad), Sharon Small (Mum), Colin Salmon (Teacher), Geoffrey Church (Stepdad) The book ends almost immediately after the climax, which leaves the delusion that the end hangs in nowhere, but I think it is clearly finished. She has a few minor enemies, nothing outstanding, but enough to niggle and cause damage in small but significant ways. As well as working she is into drama and enjoys directing the local club. She is in a relationship with Jason as the book opens, but even as the book opens that looks a little shaky. It was quite hard to choose how to rate this book because the subject matter was so awful and some of the content quite horrific. This is Nichelle Giraldes debut novel, and is told in dual timelines. In the current day, we have Essie and her husband Sanjay, and several generations earlier we have Ana and Isabelle, two women who were deeply in love when it was impossible for women to have a romantic relationship. Kosminsky made the film in an angry response to her case. “I was appalled by the conveyor-belt aspect of child abuse,” he says. “Children can be abused at home, taken into care, then abused and lured into prostitution while in care.” I surprised even myself with the high rating I gave "No Child of Mine" , but the way it managed to get under my skin was no less surprising to me. It's definitely a book that if you give it a chance, you can't go wrong. Just do not expect action in it, let the emotions lead you.
