About this deal

Reroll all failed hit rolls for Chainrasps within 15″ of spirit torment or Chainghasts. This would be awesome if Spirit Torments and Chainghasts were just a bit better, as it stands the tax is just too high. Chainguard With Third Edition out in the wild it’s time to start getting some games in, and Ellarr is so eager that he made the bold decision to trust the British weather for a mini gardenhammer tournament. Find out how his Nighthaunt got on in his report. Tournament Details

I always put a coat of Agrax Earthshade over the wood surfaces. The second “brown” darkens it down giving the result a nice amount of definition without … well … I just haven’t tried Nuln Oil over Baneblade Brown The first thing I noticed upon opening this box, is the large amount of spindly pieces and fragile looking weapons. As is the way with most nighthaunt models, fragile is the name of the game; so be careful when removing the sprues from the box. Shyish Reaper –Casting Value 7. A predatory spell that moves 8″ (12″ in Shyish), the controlling player can pivot it before moving it and for every model it passes over, roll a die, if the die rolls higher than their save characteristic, deal 1 mortal wound. Like Aethervoid pendulum but with more control, which kind of goes against why you’d take that spell (To keep an opponent from using it on you). Don’t bother. This was the first “BaseGate” issue - the included bases (were the correct size but) had an extra hole in them and people were grumpy.

Glaivewraith Stalkers

We are a small team of Warhammer Enthusiasts and miniature collectors, hoping to support and further promote the hobby. The kit is OOP and the issue doesn’t seem to be on sale anywhere! Issue 37 - Gryph Hounds and Coelia Greenshade The box also has “Vandus Hammerhand” the “Lord-Celestant on Dracoth” who isn’t present in this collection

I finished deployment first and had priority, but gave him first turn to prevent an early double turn opportunity. The Summary No Subfactions – In a rather baffling decision, Nighthaunts don’t have subfactions like other books. It was a launch battletome so it’s likely they did not know at the time those would be so important. A personal favourite from the Warhammer Fest reveals was the Spirit Torment. A model previewed in the Lightning in a Bottle Malign Portents story. Much better choices than your weapons, 2 go-tos for most tournament lists are here the Pendant of the Fell Wind and Midnight Tome. Cloak of the Waxing Moon –Makes the bearers feel no pain a 5+ instead of a 6+. Decent though you get better artefacts. B

Speaking of board control, the Spirit Hosts were immensely effective, providing a solid wall to control the center and winning me the game just by taking up space. Spectral tether –Casting Value 6. Heal a friendly Hero within 12″ for D3 wounds. You have access to a better healing spell through the Guardian of Souls, while this spell isn’t atrocious you do have better ways to heal. C+ Guardian of Souls (135) - Maul of Judgement - Artefacts: Beacon of Nagashizzar - Spells: Spectral Tether They are armed with malignant weapons – swords, axes and spiked maces – and the kit includes options for a Dreadwarden Much more diversity in artefacts here, 3 tables with 6 weapons, 6 relics and 3 lanterns which are exclusively used by Guardian of Souls. Weapons of the Damned

Poor Army Traits/Artefacts –As a launch battletome Nighthaunts have really mediocre army traits and artefacts.Warhammer Community put out a great piece on the design aesthetic and origins of the Nighthaunt army. A link is in the notes below, but the points that jumped out for me were: The most numerous of all the spirits that join Nighthaunt processions are the Chainrasp Hordes. These gheists are created from the spirits of the most vicious and irredeemable criminals to have lived in the Mortal Realms. [1a] This shouldn’t be confused with Dryad Bark which is a much darker brown. [Dryad Bark]() matches the colour of Stirland Mud texture paint Slightly changes the wording of Deathless Spirits to cover every model within 12″ of a Hero rather than units wholly within. Mostly useless in a practical sense, both in terms of the ability and actually fielding this in a game like most super battalions. Shroudguard Hey Haunters, I'm a rather new Nighthaunt player who brewed up a new 2000 point list and I would like to hear what the community thinks of it. I play in a small friend group of Khorne, Nurgle, and Orks.

Lady Olynder is the most recently chosen Mortarch of Nagash. She has gathered the disparate forces of the Nighthaunt into a combined legion. As there are quite a few plastic components to this unit, the box is larger than expected, and full to the brim with sprues. Inside you’ll find: The core book came with a lot of Battalions and so by sheer number a few manage to actually succeed and see use in competitive play. Nighthaunt Procession I’ve been drybrushing Rakarth Flesh over the Stirland Mud bases and sometimes Mechanicus Standard Grey stones - but I’d argue Corax White is better for the later. Issue 23 / Liberators and Prosecutor (B Sprue) This is a “B sprue” from an “ABB sprue” from Soul Wars, and, it hase DICE! Issue 16 - Sequitors and Castigators
