About this deal

AoS 3.0 and the new battle tome sees a major change in their play style but they retain their mobility which is one of the best reasons to play them. They also have access to and strong synergy with possibly, at least in my opinion, the most interesting model in the game – Nagash. Poor Army Traits/Artefacts –As a launch battletome Nighthaunts have really mediocre army traits and artefacts.

Naturally, the Daemons of Chaos get a few compelling options, but just take a look at this section of the table of contents – there are loads of interesting entries to ponder. A bonus command ability, you can pull a unit that’s already on the field over to your General and place that unit within 12″ of them and more than 9″ from the enemy. It’s not a great “oh shit” ability to protect your general since you can rarely place them between you and the enemy, but it’s good for emergency relocation if you want to capture a neglected objective or get them out of a tough fight. Command Traits Immune to Rend –All of your units ignore modifiers to saves, positive or negative making high rend opposition useless.

Assembly Instructions for Reikenor the Grimhailer – Warhammer Age of Sigmar (AoS).

Behind the Daemons, the Nighthaunt also receive some very serious boosts in Broken Realms: Be’lakor, making this book a must-have for generals of the ethereal hosts. A niche utility unit that doesn’t see much play. They can attempt to unbind a spell as a wizard does, gaining +1 to the unbind roll for every 4 models. And that’s it. You likely won’t have enough models to get more than +1 to unbinding without paying more points than they’re really worth. While they can also eat an endless spell, it comes at the cost of the unit taking D3 mortal wounds, something you cannot afford on a unit of one wound models. You have plenty of casters, let them do the heavy lifting. Dreadscythe Harridans You’ll want to use Reikenor to clear out hordes, with his Reaped Like Corn ability helping him plough through larger enemy units, and Wraithstorm, a unique spell which works particularly well against units of models with a single Wound each. We are a small team of Warhammer Enthusiasts and miniature collectors, hoping to support and further promote the hobby.

The first key unit though isn’t a unit, the Procession, Emerald Host, will get a lot of work done for us through the Emerald Curse In summary this is just a sample of what you could do, from the Vanguard: Nighthaunt box set. I would prefer to replace the HQs with a Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed and a Guardian of Souls for their warscroll abilities and bringing our Triumph into play (975 of a 1000 points). The biggest advantage of the Guardian is his ability to return models which transforms this list into a very frustrating defensive list with bite. Also, if you don’t think Revenants are worth it at all since they’re not much better than Reapers and they don’t count as battleline, then let me know as well.

Mortalis Terminexus –Casting Value 6. Predatory endless spell that moves 8″. After moving the model the controlling player chooses to reverse time (Heal D3 wounds for all units within 6″) or advance time (Deal D3 wounds in 6″). In Shyish the range is increased to 12. Actually decent utility and could see use. The downside is that they have no save against -2 Rend or better, realistically a charging Fulminator could remove the unit in one round.

Reikenor the Grimhailer is an impressively aggressive-looking and sinister Nighthaunt miniature. His ethereal form is clad in a tattered cloak, beneath which is visible a skeletal mask, and thin arms grasping his weapon – a great scythe known as Fellreaper, which features a grave-sand filled hourglass hanging from a chain – and the reins of his mount, a winged Nightmare named Kyallaron No Subfactions – In a rather baffling decision, Nighthaunts don’t have subfactions like other books. It was a launch battletome so it’s likely they did not know at the time those would be so important. I know I’m not including the cost for the leadership, but I’d likely include a Reiknor and KoS on steed anyway.

Even before the release of the new battle tome we were seeing a small resurgence including a top 10 at LVO for the Nighthaunt. A faithful band of followers, leavened with new recruits, has kept the faction alive in the competitive scene. With a new tome, and the move to smaller hero based armies, it’s perhaps one of the best times to start Nighthaunt. Prior to the Shyish necroquake, Reikenor often hunted the Mortal Realms on his own. Following the rise of Lady Olynder, the wraith-wizard has joined the Nighthaunts, leading processions on her behalf or following missions set by the Mortarch of Grief. So is his power greater than ever before. [1a] Wargear [ ] So Lady Olynder is a Wizard who specialises in supporting your army, and Kurdoss Valentian is a close-combat specialist – but what about someone that could do a bit of both? Reikenor the Grimhailer is your guy (or ghost). After years of collecting, buying and selling, building and painting, we realised that we had amassed a small library of Build Instructions, Assembly Instructions and User Guides for various Games Workshop products.

Cloak of the Waxing Moon –Makes the bearers feel no pain a 5+ instead of a 6+. Decent though you get better artefacts. B When they were first introduced the Nighthaunt were competitive but they faded a little with the arrival of the Elves (Daughters of Khaine, Idoneth and finally Lumineth). As an army they reward considered play and take a little bit to get the best from. Nighthaunt suits a player that is willing to take their time and wants to make the most of their opponents’ mistakes.Lightshard of the Harvest Moon –Pop this once per game. Once you do every unit within 12″ can reroll failed hits. Crazy good with the right timing, but you need to manage the aura around the Guardian of Souls. B+ Be’lakor is a being of ancient evil who commands a vast host of Daemons – some coerced, some enslaved, and some that find common cause in the destruction of empires. A new allegiance option found in the book represents the Dark Master’s expansive army. All enemy units suffer -1 Bravery within 6″ of a Nighthaunt unit. Your units are mostly melee based so you’ll be in melee range most of the time, nice little buff that will help get a few extra models but it wont change the game by itself. Deathless Spirits
