About this deal

The example above is some A3+ poster board – you do not want this hitting the wall as it comes out. Higher quality print settings on the P700 do give a slightly enlarged gamut, but as I’ve noticed earlier, unlikely to be obvious in most prints. The touch screen For more intensive photo editing on a PC or Mac, Canon throws in its Professional Print & Layout software, Media Configuration Tool, and Poster Artist Lite. Professional Print & Layout is a superb interface for preparing your images and artwork for printing on the Pro-300. You can run it as a standalone app or as an overlay in Photoshop or Lightroom. Precision color management, matching your output to specific paper types, and several other considerations are critical to getting the best possible results from a printer like this. Professional Print & Layout brings all these options and more together in one comprehensive, relatively easy-to-use interface. Canon's Professional Print & Layout program brings color correction and other editing and enhancement tools into one comprehensive window. Outstanding image quality and color— all-new UltraChrome ® PRO10 Ink with Violet produces a wide color gamut for vibrant and rich colors

A3+, A3 (29.7×42.0 cm), A4 (21.0×29.7 cm), A5 (14.8×21.0 cm), 9 x 13 cm, 13 x 18 cm, 20 x 25 cm, 13 x 20 cm, Letter, Letter Legal, Postcard, 100 x 148 mm, 10 x 15 cm, User defined Paper Tray Capacity The printer maintains a job history for the last 12 prints. This can be great for testing, as long as you don’t switch the printer off.I take the empty warnings as suggestions to make sure you have spares, no more. During my printing of this B&W test image I’ve four low warnings. It is important to note that these figures are achieved by accelerated testing under strict laboratory conditions – conditions that most of us cannot provide. Nevertheless, compared to other inks, it is rather impressive. Essentially, you are getting a printer designed for home users, with easy set up and a small footprint, that delivers professional level prints. You can really only beat this with a much more expensive printer, or by going to a pro lab. Eco Features: ENERGY STAR® qualified, RoHS compliant, Recyclable Product, Epson America, Inc. is a SmartWay Transport Partner The paper output path has what are sometimes called ‘Pizza wheels’– none of the prints I made showed any marks from this. That’s not to say they won’t appear on some papers, just not on any I used. I’d note that the only time I’ve ever seen this was years ago with a printer that subsequently proved to have been damaged in transit.

A machine like this is all about output quality—period. A resolution of 4,800 by 2,400 dots per inch (dpi) and Canon's FINE (Full-Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) printhead technology mean that the Pro-300 turns out impressively vibrant and brightly colored—often breathtaking—prints of your top-notch photos and artwork. The colors are precise, matching what you see in the source image or on your high-res color-calibrated monitor. As well as using Epson profiles for some of their papers, I created quite a few profiles of my own, typically from nearly 3000 patches on an A3+ sheet. Depending on the size of the print there are two options for making wide panoramic prints. One uses sheets of paper cut to the right size, whilst the other uses roll paper. If you’re a Mac user, then do have a look at the full setup article, since you will want to make sure you don’t accidentally set up your printer driver in AirPrint mode. Usually first noticed when all sorts of print options seem not to be there. A soft art paper needed feeding from the front slot when I noticed some leading edge marks from the paper feed roller when used with the top slot. Top paper feedThe optional display of the image you’re printing and the light inside the printer both contribute to reducing that ‘am I doing this right’ feeling we all get when printing something new. The most obvious difference you’ll notice is print times. An A3+ profiling target took just 3 min 30 seconds to print at the standard setting whilst a version at the very highest quality settings took just over 22 minutes. If a paper isn’t listed then I have not made a profile. If you are not in the UK then remember your paper may not even be available here. Looking at the Canon Pro 200 vs Epson XP 15000, the Epson is around half the price of the Canon, but also only has six inks compared to the Pro 200’s eight inks. You therefore see higher print quality with the Pro 200, but at a higher cost of ink, and with a higher cost device. Easy to use— features 4.3" customizable touchscreen, wireless connectivity and interior LED light for fast, convenient operation

Minimum Ink Droplet Size: 1.5 picoliters; Variable Droplet Technology can produce up to three different dot sizes per line A number of options for using the printer are set from the driver (not the AirPrint version) or front panel. Interfaces: Hi-Speed USB 3.0 (1 port), 100Base-T Ethernet (1 port), 2.4 GHz (802.11n) and 5 GHz Wireless (IEEE802.11 b/g/n/ac), Wi-Fi Direct, AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Epson Print Layout for iOS The line of ‘L’s is good and straight showing that there’s no undue crunching of shadows. This is printed using the default ‘darker’ setting for ABW (no – not a name for the ‘default’ I’d have chosen either…)

Smaller and Mightier With Each Update

One thing I look for in B&W printing is linearity. That means that a good looking image on my (calibrated) monitor should make for a good print. I’ll go into this in more detail in the B&W article, but here’s a 51 step wedge measured from an ABW print on premium luster at the mid quality setting of the 5 available for photo papers. The Epson SureColor SC-P700 is the professional photo printer that prints up to A3+ size and is ideal for photographers. When looking at the Canon Pro 300 vs Epson P700, which has comparable high print quality, the main difference you will see will be in your wallet, as the Pro 300 is so much more economical in terms of ink usage, while delivering almost exactly the same level of vibrant, powerful colors. Apart from the standard test procedures in evaluating an inkjet printer, it is always interesting to run a few extra tests. In this case, it was a sheet sized at 900x329mm that was cut and flattened from a 17-inch roll of Ilford Omnijet satin paper. Some preliminary test strips indicated that the Epson semi-gloss profile would work well.
