About this deal

It’s a straightforward psychological thriller, no clever devices, but that doesn’t mean it’s dull or boring by any stretch. he came across as a little too naïve and clueless until the end when he suddenly figured everything out, which seemed just too implausible to me. If you’ve been around Crime by the Book for a little bit, you already know how much I absolutely love Iceland Noir: a crime fiction festival that takes place in Reykjavik, Iceland in November. Bloody, meta, occasionally self-deprecating, and always wickedly entertaining, CURSE OF THE REAPER draws inspiration from the world of slasher films to tell a delightfully devious tale of an actor, the silver screen villain to which he devoted his entire career, and the grip that villain might just have on him in the real world. Here’s the thing, the author never said William had autism, but he did make a point of mentioning a whole lot of behaviors that, when appearing together, could indicate the presence of this condition.

Let me preface this whole review by saying: I love a good plot twist, but I love it when that twist is done right.Full of unexpected twists and turns, this psychological thriller will leave readers eager for Logan's next book. I didn’t find that this novel got particularly interesting until I’d reached the almost 40 percent mark (I read it as an e-book). She also reveals dark secrets about their marriage that lead Joe to believe that Ben poses a threat to all of them. Because this was a character-driven thriller — one in which you had one main character, fighting not just for his liberty but, perhaps, even for his life — a lot of how successful it was or wasn't hinged on whether you cared about said character. Joe Lynch is in serious danger of going down for a murder he did not commit, a murder he’s not convinced has even happened at all.Because I had been challenged, I did spend a large part of my reading time in my thinking chair, assembling a map of clues in my head and trying to divine the ending. I’ve heard raves of this book from friends across the pond and early readers here in the US alike, but my reading experience was unfortunately less than stellar. Despite this effort, I must admit that I wasn’t successful in figuring it all out before I reached the end. I guess I’m just not a fan of fictional stories that are told in 1st person because the viewpoint is so limited and unless the author is trying to achieve a particular purpose with the story, it’s a skill that I feel is hard to get right. Unfortunately, I had a bit of an issue with the main character that persisted for the majority of the book.

Though undeniably binge-worthy and easy to devour, LIES was quite significantly spoiled for this reader thanks to an entirely out-of-left-field finale - a conclusion so dramatic and over-the-top I couldn’t help but feel I’d been duped. Joe Lynch is just an ordinary happily-married man - until one split-second decision throws his life into crisis. Later Beth confronts Mel of the pictures, Joe’s happy marriage and comfortable life as he sees it is no more. Christmas is around the corner, and if you’re a reader who likes to theme your reads to the season, today’s blog post is for you!If you are the publisher or author and feel that they do not properly reflect the range of media opinion now available, send us a message with the mainstream reviews that you would like to see added. Moving between past and present, ALL THE DANGEROUS THINGS delves into the darkest corners of the life of one mother as she investigates the disappearance of her son one year prior—and, in the process, confronts long-buried secrets from her own childhood. As I reflected on my year in books while writing this blog post, it felt nearly impossible to narrow down my picks. TM Logan’s thrillers have sold more than a million copies in the UK and are published in 19 countries around the world including the USA, South Korea, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Greece and the Netherlands.
