He used to play for two bands namely playing the drums for Garrett and as the guitarist in an ABBA tribute group. The odds are against survival but as reluctant relationships develop, built on the shaky foundations of need rather than any form of trust, Sedgwick captures the essence of human nature by never passing judgement on even the bad guys, preferring instead to make them, quite simply, human beings who have been forced to recognise the survival of the fittest.

I didn’t really believe in the characters or their dynamics and relationships and felt the ending was rather cliched.At first Dooby wanted to escape the island with Zoe, abandoning all his people, but Zoe refused after seeing Dooby's violence. Set on the east coast of England after the sea has risen and flooded much of East Anglia, Floodland tells the story of ten year old Zoe who has lost her parents in a confusing rescue mission from her home island of Norwich. Alone and desperate among marauding gangs, she manages to dig a derelict boat out of the mud and gets away to Eels Island.

After seeing Floodland used in a Year 5 class on my last placement I was pleasantly surprised at its many uses within the classroom and its cross curricular links. Well, if the country got smaller when the sea rose, then there ought to be more people squashed into what's left. The most recent of these nominations rekindled a fascination with Poe that has borne fruit here in (in The Restless Dead, 2007) the form of "The Heart of Another" - inspired by Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart.As it gets warmer, glaciers in the North and South Pole are melting, and it becomes water which makes the ocean bigger.
