About this deal

In the world of children’s books, it’s the equivalent of proving the earth is round: Christopher Edge has written a clever story infused with science that wears its intelligence humorously, introduces complex ideas with the lightest of touches, and deals with the death of a parent, all while pitching to mid-range boys, but not exclusively so, without resorting to fart jokes and groovy ‘naive’ drawings… Edge proves the theory that novels about science can be enormous fun. Ed Eaves has done a fabulous job of slipping all these details in without making too big a deal of it! Chris Edge’s writing is wonderfully fresh and acute, and as he tells Albie’s story he addresses some difficult issues, including bullying and parental absence as well as bereavement, with enormous empathy and a wicked understanding of ten-year-old humour.

For ten years, Whiffy Wilson has been delighting children and grown ups with his funny refusals and cheeky behaviour. Published as a beautiful hardback with embossed dust cover, and marker ribbon, this is a gift book to entrance readers of all ages. Since then, Ed Eaves and I have created around one book every year, with book 11 due out this summer. Whereas his mum was a playful sharer – she’d listen to his questions such as ‘Why does cheese on toast always go stringy? It's fantastic that there are so many Albie adventures, and we are looking forward to exploring them all.The fun starts right from the first page where Caryl and Ed give the reader a list of things to spot throughout the book, centred around the book’s theme. I rarely make such a claim, however, The Many Worlds of Albie Bright is a novel that gripped me from the start and to risk adding cliché … no, I couldn’t put it down. The most famous and feared pirate on the high seas was Blackbeard, who was known for setting prisoners’ beards on fire!

If quantum physics said that my mum was still alive in some parallel universe, then maybe quantum physics could help me find her. With adventure around every corner, and core values of friendship, kindness and imaginative play, the Albie stories make great bedtime stories and support early years education too! Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Helping young children to recognise that everyone can follow their own dreams and be a great friend!
