About this deal

From the beginning of Ziggy to the end of Ziggy, Mick Rock captured the essence and almost everything else to do with David Bowie's Ziggy character. Featuring more than 600 photographs selected from Mick Rock's vast archive Moonage Daydream takes the reader from the early English concerts where Ziggy and the Spiders from Mars made their name, to Ziggy's final swansong, the flamboyant 1980 Floor Show.

In 2002, David Bowie and Mick Rock created Moonage Daydream, the defining document of the life and times of Ziggy Stardust. Irrespective of the source, all of our collectables meet our strict grading and are 100% guaranteed. I'd been fascinated by this fey creature-- an alien demigod of sex and song-- ever since they'd started playing his cuts on the "underground" radio station, and photos of him began to show up in the music press.

His sharp, often humorous text discusses the origins of the Ziggy Stardust stage persona, comments on Mick Rock’s photographs and gives unprecedented insight into Ziggy’s stratospheric two-year career. Alongside Mick Rock's reflections on these incredible images, David Bowie adds his own thoughts: discussing Ziggy's origins and giving an unprecedented insight into the stratospheric two-year career of his alter-ego. When I was a young man, in the early Seventies, I had several cheap trade paperbacks what were essentially picture profiles of rock sensation David Bowie.

The closest we’ll ever get to a straight up Bowie autobiography — but who’d ever want anything straight-up from Bowie? In 1972 David Bowie released the instant classic The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars —a record without which any Greatest Albums of All Time list is simply incomplete.Alongside the stunning photos are setlists, tour notes, newspaper articles, pencil sketches, and early lyrics and interview notes. The highlights for me are not only the comments that Bowie makes throughout the book but the images, some never published before. Following his passing, he was fondly remembered by many musicians and photographers alike for his talent of distinctly capturing his subject. This chronicles Ziggy Stardust, not the story of Ziggy, but of the evolution and performances of David Bowie (and Mick Rock's photography skills).
