Be sure to make sure your pipe size is the same as that of your sink waste trap to avoid any nasty leaks.

I sent a wad of kitchen roll down from the 32mm side with a suitable stick to clear out the channel. This fitting has a physical pipe fitting size of 36mm and requires Solvent Weld Glue for installation. Solvent weld a 43mm waste pipe to traps from the sink, shower, washer or more, to create secure wastage systems. Your existing pipes might be solvent weld, which is not compatible with push fit at all, as the pipe is larger and made from ABS rather than polypropylene.

Refer to the size chart or check the pipe for markings to identify the type (look for ABS, indicating a solvent pipe). Additionally, chrome waste pipes are available in 35mm and 42mm sizes, necessitating the use of a conversion seal or fitting for proper connection to plastic pipework. Finaly cut a 32mm pipe to size that could meet the 36mm pipe inside the 40mm pipe leaving enough length to fit a 32mm pipe extension joint. Still have not had the chance to ask Screwfix whether they might consider that selling 32 and 40 but supplying 36 and 43 without mentioning it, is a good reason to give me a refund - albeit its a marginal thing whether posting them back is worth it.
