The phone feels fairly slow to use, and when put through the Geekbench 4 benchmark test, it returned a fairly low score of 1,529, where we’d expect a phone at this price to be closer to 1,700. There are four rear cameras on the Nokia X20, which is a large number but not an unusual one. They are: a 64MP main, 5MP ultra-wide, 2MP depth-sensing and 2MP macro snapper. There’s also a 32MP front camera. If you know your phones, you’ll know this combo is pretty similar to the Moto G9 Plus, but with a lower-res ultra-wide and higher-res selfie camera.
Videos can be recorded in a maximum of 1080p with 60 fps. We would expect 4K video recording in this price range. The audio produced in collaboration with AKG working with the ergonomic design delivers spacious sounds with deep bass. Feel like you are in the front row at a performance with the incredible sound of the Galaxy Buds Live. The good news, however, is that the screen is bright enough in sunny conditions, with a measured peak luminance of 635cd/m² with the adaptive brightness setting engaged. The phone’s contrast of 1,241:1 isn’t bad, either. The test included active usage of a device for 5 hours per day with a new battery. Usage included e.g. gaming, video streaming, calling, sending sms, browsing and using apps (such as social media, news, navigation and music). The test was conducted with normal device settings in a lit indoor environment. The device was left on standby overnight. The device is less suitable for those who want a light and handy smartphone. Nokia's X20 simply has too much screen space for that and is quite heavy. The IPS screen does not offer accurate colors and is also quite low in contrast, so fans of OLED displays will probably turn away.
The Nokia X20 is a large, wide and also quite heavy smartphone, so it is rather less suitable for small hands. With their iconic shape and ergonomic design, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live are perfect for listening to music and taking calls on the move. They offer a snug yet non-intrusive fit so you can keep on using they all-day comfortably. The Nokia X20 would be a fine phone for its price, if it wasn’t for how competitive the premium-mid-range market segment has become - as it stands, the phone doesn’t have the features or specs to really compete with its rivals. On another damp note, the Nokia X20’s screen is a bit inconsistent when it comes to colour accuracy. With an average Delta E of 3.69 in my tests, the phone’s IPS panel was all over the place, with oversaturated dark blue and green tones, and dull-looking reds. As with the camera performance, though, the low score could be a result of our early production unit, and perhaps software optimizations could bump that 1,529 a little higher. Verdict - Good cell phone with sustainability aspects
Pictures from the wide-angle camera are quite dim and not really sharp. The camera is sufficient for snapshots on bright days The Nokia X20 is a curious entry from HMD Global. It’s currently sitting at the top of the new portfolio, but it feels like a phone which has arrived twelve months too late. If the X20 in its current form had arrived in the second quarter of 2020 it would have sat proudly near the top of the recommended lists at this price point. The micro USB connector has become a staple of almost every household, so you could always do with having a spare about!
Capable of delivering charge and data, this is a multifunctional product that can work in a variety of situations for you.
