The new project is certainly a change from the Teacher series and I do hope my readers enjoy this new venture. Free@Last TV, producers of the highly successful Agatha Raisin series, are busy with casting at present with filming anticipated later in the year. So . . . exciting times ahead! And then there's the particular challenge of Edna Wallop, the Acting Head of Faculty. Edna may have grand plans to overhaul the faculty's finances, but Tom can't help being suspicious of her methods... Meanwhile, Tom meets Inger, an enigmatic Music tutor, and feels an instant spark. One thing's for sure: it's going to be an eventful year on campus, for tutors and students alike! Dr Tom Frith is beginning his first term as a tutor at the University of Eboracum. After teaching primary school children for several years, he's sure shaping the minds of young adults will be a welcome change. But that's before considering the pressures he'll face outsidethe lecture hall, from helping three hapless students who've been surviving exclusively on porridge, to fielding inappropriate propositions from students chasing higher grades.

He grew up in Gipton in Leeds, [2] trained as a teacher at St John's College, York and later became head teacher of two schools in North Yorkshire and then senior lecturer in primary education at Bretton Hall. However, a challenge came about following a discussion with my editor at Penguin Random House and the ‘University’ series was born. The first in the series, ‘University Tales’, will be published on Thursday 7th September at 6.00 p.m. in Waterstones Milton Keynes so I shall look forward to meeting up with some of my readers on that evening. This one is based on my experience of working as a university lecturer during the late eighties and early nineties. There’s a new main character, Tom Frith, a 32 year old lecturer and we follow his life and loves throughout the year. Finally, thanks to everyone who has been in touch to say how much they have appreciated the Teacher series and the amount of enjoyment they have experienced while reading my gentle tales.
