About this deal

This isn’t me, but a picture from the manufacturer. When it’s cold out, this is how I wrap up inside it and stay nice and warm. Camping blankets range in usage from luxurious extravagance to necessary bedding, and their spread of prices shares similar breadth. While many types of gear often correlate a higher price with better performance, we found no such relationship in these camping blankets. Some of our favorite blankets are among the least expensive and most expensive options we tested, and several fall right in the middle. There is only one issue I have with the Snugpak Jungle Blanket, and it’s actually pretty minor. I’m six foot one inches tall (73 inches), the blanket is 76″ x 64″. I`ll be completely honest I`ve only taken it out a handful of times, but I plan to use it extensively this summer (and will update this review as I do). The outer layer of the blanket is made from Micro Diamond ripstop polyester fabric. Naturally, this fabric is water resistant, but it is by no means water proof.

With my family, everyone tries to “call” the blanket to use around the campfire due to how comfortable it is. There isn’t really a great way to rate comfort other than to tell you this blanket is really soft and comfortable. Warmth The Snugpak Jungle Blanket fills the need for a survival blanket and gives you a blanket you’ll be happy to use in any outdoor situation. Things To Consider When Looking For A Survival Blanket Cutting right to the chase, this survival bag is made for tropical conditions (Snugpak`s recommend lowest temperature range is 45°F), so it`s really only ideal in mild to warm locales. Snugpak has mastered the comfort factor with the Jungle Blanket while making it water resistant and warm. The Jungle Blanket has a soft comfortable feel that literally surprised everyone who’s had a chance to use it when I’ve taken it on camping trips. The outer shell of the Jungle Blanket is made using ripstop fabric. Ripstop is a fabric that has extra threads of synthetic fibers weaved into the fabric at different increments and different directions, which is what creates the tiny diamond-like design on the blanket. What these tiny diamond shapes of extra thread do is stop a rip from continuing past the tiny diamond that it starts in and increasing the durability and life span of the fabric. Final Thoughts You can rest assured that their Jungle Bag is made with the same keen eye for detail and incredibly durable materials as all of their other offerings, including the Snugpak Ionosphere Tent (my favorite one-person survival tent).

Of course, such top-of-the-line sleeping bags cost much more than the Jungle Bag. The majority are also slightly less durable, come without a built-in bug net, and don`t have quite as effective antibacterial properties. I’ve used it on a few cold nights at my cabin and camping when temps hit the upper 40s. It’s rated down to 45 degrees, and it did keep me nice and comfortably warm. I’ve also used it as a cover on warmer nights to great affect. I didn’t wrap up in it on those ‘warmer’ uses, and it was comfortable then as well. I`ve yet to use the Snugpak Jungle Bag for more than a couple days at a time, so I can`t personally speak on its antibacterial, antimicrobial, and odor-reducing properties. It is definitely not as comfortable as down blankets such as the REI Down Camp Blanket or the Rumpl Down Puffy Blanket, but down loses its insulating properties when wet, so I wouldn’t call those survival blankets, but rather comfy expensive camping blankets. DurabilityI highly recommend this Snugpak sleeping bag to anyone looking for a lightweight, ultra-durable bug-out sleeping bag for use in mild to warm weather. Snugpak claims that the Jungle Blanket will keep you warm down to 45 degrees and honestly, I think that they are mostly right. It’s hard to describe how many camping blankets feel. If they are waterproof, they tend to be rough and crinkly, almost like a rain poncho. Or if you have a wool camping blanket (I do love wool for camping), you know that while it is great for warmth and can still keep you warm when wet, wool isn’t comfortable, it’s scratchy.
