About this deal

Living in a National Park (Vercors) with certain fire restrictions, the ability it gives to contain a small fire is something i appreciate. In the event of a lost package we will require up to 14 business days before being able to replace or credit for any lost goods. You will find further information in the privacy settings, where you can also change your selection at any time.

Yup, the large grill plate does distort when heated but that is to be expected given the flat nature of the item. The titanium version is (compared to difference in weight with the rvs) too expensive in my opinion. I've used it with wood (on hikes with my grandson up into the hills, and for marshmallow roasts on the back deck with granddaughter), pellets, charcoal (wonderful option for grilling steak), and trangia burner (from brewing tea, to cooking meals) - and all the fuel options work really well in this unit! For regular use, we recommend our Heavy Duty Outdoor Bag Bushbox XL or the matching Leather Pouch Bushbox XL. To keep your pots and the kitchen itself cleaner, it is generally better to choose “clean” wood like birch, rather than resin rich wood like pine or spruce, as the latter will generate more smoke and grime.

Because of it's measurements the XL produces a considerable amount more warmth than the smaller one.

Food is a big part of our trips, so the right stove is essential for creating some tasty grub and fueling your body on adventures. The Bushbox XL Combination bundle includes the Bushbox XL, Universal Grate, and heavy duty outdoor bag. So far I've baked muffins, cooked eggs, pancakes, trash omelets, steak and marshmallows for the kid. In damp conditions it's also harder to keep a fire going in a smaller one; you really have keep an eye on your fire at all times. Both of these stoves consume a surprisingly small amount of fuel when cooking on them, the efficiency of the air holes ensures that all the fuel is consumed and all that is left at the end is ash.

Such as under a protective tree, a little cave or a lavo (A lavo would be perfect as i have experienced a real open fire inside one, a warm, cozy night! Preparing the ground a bit first is good, but you can also again use a bit of tin foil or an aluminum pie pan to catch any falling ember. I had tried the original bushbox and found that although brilliant, it just didn't come up to my requirements. The Bushbox XL utilises the chimney effect which results in intense heat up to 800°C (even damp material can be used once the fire has started).

So much so that I wouldn't mind letting my son use it under supervision (because it does produce a heavy flame sometimes). On top of the Bushbox XL Titanium they ensure safe standing even for smaller cups and cooking vessels. Also the first time I used the extended grill plate it warped so badly it made fitting the grill as described above impossible.
