About this deal

Make sure that the paper is completely flat. You may smooth out the surface to clear out any wrinkles or creases. Soap's great for sharp creases in trousers but rots the cloth eventually - very embarassing on the parade ground...

Place the paper on a flat and steady surface. You may use a large piece of cardboard to lay the paper flat and iron it seamlessly. Vellum is an expensive paper made from calfskin that can be used as writing material or decorative art. It is often used for book covers. Like other leather products, it can be damaged by heat; thus, use a clothes iron with no more than 110 volts to avoid scorching the surface. Leave the paper to the side and wait 15-20 minutes for the juice to dry. Try not to move the paper or put anything on top of the paper while the juice dries. If you don't own an ironing board, a folded-up towel on the floor makes a great substitute!! I ironed my clothes that way for years!

Have an old spray bottle (commonly used for bathroom and Kitchen cleaner) filled with water, and spray the mist on any badly creased areas, then its much easier to iron out (and better than the irons in built spray). To get razor sharp creases in both shirts and trouser use a brown paper bag (It has to be brown) Iron over the paper bag and presto creases as sharp as you could ever want and would pass any officers inspection.

Slip it inside two paper towels to absorb the water. Make sure you are using smooth paper towels. Textured surfaces or patterns might transfer to the paper surface.Use the paper towels or tissue paper and place them on the flat surface or table. Take the rolled paper and uncurl or unroll it on top of the tissue or paper towel. To flatten the paper, place heavy books or boards on top of it, particularly on the edges or corners. Dip the thin paintbrush into the lemon juice and write a message on a piece of paper. The more lemon juice you use the darker the message will appear!

There are two types of vellum: flat and embossed. With flat vellum, there is only one side which can be printed or written on. As you can see in the photo below, after being printed or written on one side this type of vellum will not come out of the printer/writer blank. If you don't want to burn it, try the oven. Put the tissue paper on a cookie sheet and bake it at 200 degrees F for about an hour or so until all the moisture has evaporated. Place the towel or cloth on top of the paper. Some iron the paper directly without using any towel or cloth as long as it is on the lowest heat setting. However, this may damage or tear the paper, especially if it is thin. Give clothes a good shake and pull before hanging them out to dry and the worst creases will be gone. It also helps if its windy!Learn about humidifying techniques. As mentioned in the other methods, wetting the paper, or "humidifying" it, can help remove wrinkles caused by torn and displaced fibers. Archivists often use special tools and extreme care to increase the humidity of the paper significantly. If you are brave, and have a few test pieces of paper to try out first, you can try to mimic some of these at home before pressing your paper. One of the easiest might be the "Horton Humidifier" method. Place the rolled-up paper in a plastic cup, open to the air. Place the cup in a plastic garbage can, add water to the bottom of the can, and close the garbage can lid.
