Not sure what the problem is but wondered if it's reasonable to think that it's a fault with the programmer so, if I'm going to change it, then to opt for the EP2? Would have thought that after use they would go out until a button was pressed to turn them on when needed.

One note however, the EP2 face plate has a tiny screw on the lower edge that is screwed in from the underside to really lock the faceplate in position. Keep hitting the Yes button to go forward after the times have been set up but do not seem to get the actual day of the week to set up for Sat and Sun. Instructions good, but you also need to use the supplied installer instructions to get it working right for you. The new Potterton EP2 Twin Channel Programmer can be used with backplates from the existing EP range, making it quick and easy to fit without requiring any additional wiring. To many years of the EP6000 with a button for every setting which was easy to select exactly what you want. This programmer meets central heating demands via 24 hour 5/2 day or 7 day time settings allowing the user to select the schedule that suits their weekly or daily requirements.
