About this deal

If you care more about convenience than speed, wireless charging is very much the way to go – and a growing number of power banks support it. Just place your smartphone on the integrated wireless pad, and you can recharge without connecting any cables. There will be a hit on charging speeds, so you’ll be limited to 7.5W or 10W, but that’s not a big issue if you don’t need to recharge in a flash. As a bonus, we’re now seeing Magsafe-friendly chargers that will clamp onto an iPhone or a ring inside an iPhone case, meaning you can recharge your iPhone even while you’re using it. How we test power banks Firstly, think about how much power you’re likely to need and how long you might be away from a power source. This will dictate what size power bank you need in terms of battery capacity, which is usually measured in milliamp hours (mAh). It’s nice to have something this powerful and lightweight in your bag that you can rely on if and when you need some emergency power or you aren’t close to an outlet. Downsides Everybody on our gift list who got a new iPhone is going to get an Anker Nano Power Bank (22.5W) this year. This cute little charger is perfectly sized to sit beneath your favorite smartphone, plugged into the USB-C port with a little plug that opens out or hides away for a sleek look.

Most portable solar chargers have smaller panels of around two watts or less, so the panel serves as a slow, emergency-charging system and the battery does the lion’s share of the work. If you know you’ll be away from an electric outlet for a while and need to rely more heavily on the solar aspect of the unit, you’ll want to opt for a larger solar panel. If this is the case, a folding panel charger might be a better option since they are still relatively compact. That app is essential because there's a Find My feature built into the battery. It doesn't work like an AirTag over UWB, it's only Bluetooth, but it's useful if you misplace your battery in your office (or you have multiple batteries, like I do). This power bank comes with many features, including a sleek design, safety features to protect your device from overcharging and overheating, and high-speed charging up to 4 times faster than conventional chargers. The Venture 70 also has a smart charge feature that can identify different devices. It then applies the fastest charging profile possible, without risk of overheating or overcharging. It also allows pass-through charging. That means you can safely charge devices from the power bank even when it’s plugged into the mains. We also liked the built-in 65-lumen LED torch, which has two brightness settings and three strobe modes, including SOS. In common with this EasyAcc the LimeFuel offers two USB outputs, and both are rated at 2.4A (12W). However, the device can support a maximum output of only 4.2A (21W), which means with two devices plugged in the most either can reach is 10.5W. Things are simpler with the EasyAcc Rugged Power Bank: one port is rated at 2.4A (12W), which will accommodate tablets and phones that can accept a fast input; the other is rated at 1A (5W) and suited to smaller devices such as smartphones and GPS gadgets. You can plug any device into the faster output without harming its battery, but some tablets (particularly iPads) may be fussy with the slower output. Also see : How to improve smartphone battery life . The best power bank for you is going to be the one that best fits your specific needs. If you’re a whitetail hunter that just needs something for an all day sit, then the 10,000 mAh PowerCore is going to work well for you. If you spend all your time on a boat and need a power bank to keep your GoPros charged and not slow down if it gets wet, the Anker Solar is perfect. The key is deciding what features best fit how you’ll use your power bank and then choose the charger that best matches your requirements. As well as being impact and water-resistant, power banks specifically designed for the great outdoors often have LED lights, so they can be used as torches. This can be a useful additional feature, as can power banks with integrated charging cables – so you don’t have to remember to bring separate cables with you. You can get portable chargers for things like marine batteries that are made by reputable companies like DeWalt, but they aren’t meant for consumer electronics like computers, phones, drones, handheld video games, headphones etc.

You only want to charge a phone: If you don't need to charge a laptop occasionally, or you only carry a phone with no accessories, the Anker 733 is more than you need. If we are unable to resolve your complaint, you may make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Please see https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/raising-concerns for more information.

Stay Connected

There are plenty of other power bank makers around, and most of them have not caught up to the faster charging speeds available on the iPhone 15 family, let along even faster Android phones. Except for unique form factors or serious bargains, we stayed away from recommending power banks from reputable makers if they couldn't charge at 2023 speeds. The Anker Nano is only 5,000mAh, but that doesn't mean it can fully charge a 5,000mAh phone battery like you'll find in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Power banks are about 60-70% efficient, depending on the phone's technology, so this power bank is good for charging an iPhone 15 to nearly full, but that big Ultra will only get about 65% charge. You might be happy to have the solar charger in a pinch (10 percent phone battery in an emergency is better than none), but I never expect miracles with a built-in solar panel on a battery bank. Mah All of our tests were conducted using the same wall adapter and, when possible, USB-C or Micro-USB cable. This was done to eliminate any discrepancies with wall adapters and cable throughput. What to look for in a portable power bank This is the best multi-purpose rugged powerbank because it’s a nice mix of versatility and power. 33,500maH is, indeed, more capacity (3500 more) than the other big portable charger on this list (the Techsmarter) just with a lower wattage.
